You Can Feel The Love…at GloryLand Bakery!

By Sydney Keim, Local Llano Intern (Lubbock, TX)

You might have seen Gloryland Organic Bakery pop up recently at the Wolfforth Farmers Market (which takes place every Saturday from 10-2), but you might not know exactly why. Gloryland started baking bread out of their home to feed those they saw in need of help when the pandemic hit. “I had 30 pounds of flour in the freezer and I had to do something because I hate seeing people hungry.” Then their community stepped in to give them help: “Some awesome people asked if they could purchase bread or even just donate so that we could afford more ingredients.”
But that is not all they are doing for the local community. “We use local ingredients as much as possible. We get our eggs from Alcove Farms, our dairy from Pereira Pastures Dairy in Abernathy, and just recently purchased a gallon of honey from E3 Farms.” They also use local produce from Quail Feather Farms in their specialty breads.

Gloryland still gives their leftover bread they do not sell to those in need, such as the homeless population, and they hope to acquire a second oven to do even more. Their long-term goal is to open a brick & mortar farm to table bakery & bistro that will feed those who are unable to pay. “It would allow us the opportunity to give more than just bread. We could provide a hot bowl of soup in the winter or a cold dessert in the summer.”

This small family business might just be beginning, but they are on a road to become a pillar of our community. Look out for them at the Wolfforth Farmers Market and help them help others!
