Crabtree Family Farms

For Morgan and Whitney Crabtree, sustainable food production is a family affair. Established in Conlen, TX, the Crabtrees and their children run cattle and raise three acres of mixed produce on their property that just so happens to include Conlen’s old schoolhouse. Their family heritage traces back three generations in their community of Conlen, TX.

In their greenhouse, Whitney has begun thousands of plant starts, soon to go out into the field. Their heart to feed others underscores their land stewardship and work ethic. 

The Crabtrees are one of the rural producers we have partnered with at Ogallala Commons, to forward contract produce for a 150-mile radius. The Crabtrees alone are slated to grow over 7,000lbs of fresh produce throughout this season that will feed rural communities on the high plains as we work to build a values-based supply chain and graft out regional producers into institutional markets.

They also have plenty of farm animals: ducks, chickens, and a recently inherited herd of youngin’ Angus.
