If you are looking for something sweet and savory to eat then I suggest the Creek House Honey Farm and Winery in Canyon Texas. I took a visit back in June to enjoy their amazing Lavender Festival where guests can come and cut their own bouquet of lavender! Every type of person was there to take part of the festivities, and the food was to die for. The event was a perfect way to celebrate the abundance of lavender in the area. Guests were able to explore the lavender fields, learn about the various varieties of lavender, and purchase lavender-infused items from the Creek House Honey and Winery.
I was delighted to be able to talk to the owners, George and Paige Nester, between the bustle of the event for the day. Their back of house is filled with workers, and an endless supply of their local-honey treats and beauty products. One of their newest additions to their honey-based empire? The Winery, which features a rotating list of spirits and a delectable menu of food.
“We currently have a wine that features the wild plums from a farm in Wellington (Texas),” George mentioned as he showed me around. I was offered to test a great variety of meads and it was shocking how crips and fresh each flavor was! Guests are able to sample the locally-made honey and wines, as well as enjoy a delicious lunch made with fresh, local ingredients. The owners and staff provide an atmosphere that is relaxing and inviting while also offering knowledgeable information on the products. When you visit you are raptured by the beautiful farmhouse building that just recently had an expansion back in 2019. They are also a family owned and operated business as the entire Nester family have been working together to build up their farm for many years.
The Creek House Honey Farm and Winery in Canyon, Texas is one of the most unique places to visit in the Panhandle. Located on the beautiful Paluxy River, the Creek Honey House and Winery is an idyllic destination for wine and honey lovers alike.
